Dritëro Agolli’s Literary Legacy Honored at National Center for Books and Reading

The National Center for Books and Reading hosted the event “The Literary Legacy of Dritëro Agolli,” bringing together scholars and readers of the renowned Albanian writer.

The discussion explored Agolli’s work from multiple perspectives. Professor Behar Gjoka focused on his prose, particularly the novels Shkëlqimi dhe rënia e shokut Zylo and Njeriu me top. He described the satire in Shkëlqimi dhe rënia e shokut Zylo as a form of rebellion against its time, while Njeriu me top was analyzed as a social critique of village life, traditions, and the relationship between individuals and property.

Researcher Rovena Vata highlighted the diversity of Agolli’s poetry, emphasizing the lyrical essence that permeates his entire body of work.

Meanwhile, professor Anila Mullahi underscored the significance of Agolli’s post-1990 writings, which remain relatively underexplored despite their substantial volume. She particularly noted that works such as Arka e djallit could rightfully be considered masterpieces.
