Celebrating Women in Science: EU4Culture Spotlights Hermelinda Troqe’s Contribution

On the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the EU4Culture program spotlighted the achievements of Hermelinda Troqe, a chemical engineer with over two decades of experience at the Central State Film Archive.

By sharing her story, EU4Culture honored the invaluable contributions of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This day serves as a reminder of their dedication and inspires future generations to pursue careers in these fields.

Hermelinda’s work extends beyond film restoration; it is a mission of preservation, passion, and cultural heritage protection.

“We are not just conserving old films—we are keeping history alive,” she reflects.

Funded by the European Union and implemented by UNOPS in partnership with the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, the EU4Culture program has strengthened the Central State Film Archive by providing cutting-edge equipment, including a D-Observer digital table, an advanced film-cleaning device, and a state-of-the-art film projector.

These innovations have significantly enhanced efficiency, enabling faster and higher-quality film preservation while ensuring long-term accessibility to Albania’s cinematic heritage.
