National Library of Albania and the National Center for Traditional Activities Honor a Cultural Luminary

The National Center for Traditional Activities, in collaboration with the National Library of Albania, organized the promotion of the book “Një tufë proverbash” (Anastatic Edition) by the distinguished folklorist, lexicographer, and publicist Sotir Kolea. The event also featured the premiere screening of a documentary dedicated to his life and work.
Held at the Sotir Kolea Center within the National Library of Albania, this gathering marked the eightieth anniversary of the book’s first publication and brought renewed attention to Kolea’s invaluable contributions to folkloric studies and Albania’s intangible cultural heritage.
The panel included Niko Kotherja, director of the National Center for Traditional Activities; Majlinda Toçi, deputy director of the National Library of Albania; and Nini Haxhistasa, scholar and great-granddaughter of the visionary Sotir Kolea.
The event brought together scholars, academics, and admirers of linguistics, folklore, and history, celebrating one of the most distinguished figures in Albania’s cultural and intellectual legacy.
In conclusion, Zana Shuteriqi, daughter of Professor Dhimitër Shuteriqi, shared evocative memories with the audience, offering a deeply personal reflection on the occasion.
