“Marubi” Museum Aims for UNESCO Recognition, Exciting Program Ahead in 2025

The National Museum of Photography “Marubi” saw a record 22,500 visitors in 2024, driven by its educational programs and exhibitions, which positively impacted engagement. The museum’s focus on international collaborations will continue into this year.

A major goal for the first half of 2025 is hosting a scientific conference.

“As part of our educational program, we will welcome a multi-day conference with prominent experts from the Mediterranean. We aim to position ourselves as a hub for photography,” said Luçjan Bedeni, Director of the National Museum of Photography “Marubi”.

Looking ahead to 2025, the museum plans to open four exhibitions and continue its programs related to Antique Photography Week and European Heritage Days. The upcoming months are crucial for its inclusion in UNESCO.

“We expect initial results by the end of February. I believe April will be the month that confirms our progress,” Bedeni noted.

The “Marubi” Photography Museum continues to be an important destination for visitors interested in history, culture, and art, offering a unique perspective on the development of photography and the preservation of Albania’s visual heritage.
