Ozpetek’s ‘Diamanti’ Shines Bright at Kinema Millennium

Last night, at Kinema Millennium, it was time for director Ferzan Ozpetek’s new masterpiece, part of the Italian cinema cycle in Tirana.

“Diamanti” filled the theater with a story of emotions, mystery, and intertwined destinies. The film by the Italian-Turkish director captivates with elegance, intensity, and beauty—just as only Ferzan Ozpetek can.

“Diamanti” explores love, relationships, and self-discovery. It’s a 2024 production with an outstanding cast.

Critics call “Diamanti” a return to Ozpetek’s best cinema—marked by ensemble storytelling and powerful portrayals of women. His characters embody courage, determination, vulnerability, fear, madness, naivety, intelligence, imagination, regret, sorrow, and rebellion.

“If Orson Welles saw cinema as a beautiful toy for fun, Ferzan Ozpetek has finally turned it into a magic wand—able to depict the world as it should be,” writes Corriere della Sera.

The screening at Kinema Millennium was made possible by the Italian Cultural Institute.
