Ibrahimaj: Innovation and Entrepreneurship Drive Economic Growth

Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj said today that Albania is making important steps to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship. She described these sectors as pillars of the country’s economic development.

At the opening ceremony of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Swedish Ambassador Nikas Strom was also present.

According to Ibrahimaj, entrepreneurship and innovation are essential to create jobs, increase productivity, and integrate Albania into international markets.

She highlighted progress over the past three years, noting a steady increase in entrepreneurship events. This year, the week included 63 activities in five cities.

Furthermore, she emphasized international support. Collaboration with partners is a key factor in building a strong innovation ecosystem.

Ibrahimaj added that Global Entrepreneurship Week is a great opportunity to discuss economic growth through innovation. She stressed the importance of public-private cooperation and policies that support business development.

Looking ahead, she announced a new fiscal package for next year. It will include incentives for research and development and support for startups through corporate contributions.

In addition, the minister focused on emerging technologies. Artificial intelligence and cybersecurity are crucial for Albania’s digital economy. She stressed the country is ready to integrate AI into economic and administrative sectors.

Finally, Ibrahimaj underlined the importance of digitalizing key sectors like tourism and energy. This will increase Albania’s competitiveness and create new opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.
