National Theater Stages Eric Assous’ Play “Marital Illusions” in ArTurbina

“Marital Illusions” was the performance staged last night at the National Theater’s ArTurbina.

Written by French playwright Eric Assous, the play was directed by Artan Imami and starred Indrit Çobani, Andia Xhunga, and Donald Shehu.

The story centers on the complex dynamics of a married couple grappling with challenges and doubts in their relationship. Through a sincere and entertaining narrative, both spouses uncover their extramarital affairs. The husband’s jealousy over his wife’s most recent affair leads to awkward and comedic situations. A key plot point involves suspicion around a family friend who, unaware of the couple’s issues, is invited into their home.

The friend unwittingly becomes the focus of attention, with his presence creating further tension and humorous misunderstandings, which add to the comedy’s lively and engaging nature.

The play, translated by Anxhela Çikopano, will continue to be performed tonight and throughout the weekend.
