Medieval Art Museum in Korçë Prepares for Landmark Year in 2025

Director Fjoralba Prifti highlighted that 21,000 visited the NMMA, 15,000 the Museum of Education, and 1,425 the Archaeological Museum of Korçë, currently closed for restoration. The Museum of Education primarily attracted local visitors and Albanians from North Macedonia and Kosovo.
For 2025, marking the museum’s 45th anniversary, plans include publishing the third issue of “On Medieval Art”, special exhibitions, scientific sessions, workshops, and cultural activities for all age groups. Events such as “Origins and Craftsmanship” and “Between Cultural Heritage and Art” will be held both online and on-site, showcasing museum objects and artisan talks.
The NMMA also collaborates on events like European Heritage Week and Albania’s National Heritage Day. Established in 1980, it houses the Center for the Restoration and Study of Icons, continuing vital work in conservation and research.
