Lezha’s Hidden Underground Treasures: A New Era for Cultural Heritage Exploration

In Lezha, focus is now shifting to the untapped underground treasures that hold significant historical value, particularly for the ancient city of Lisus. With the support of the Ministry of Education, the Academy of Sciences will begin a geophysical study of the area, which includes topographic measurements to identify the locations of cultural heritage sites. Renowned archaeologist Neritan Ceka, who will lead the project, believes this study will be a crucial step in uncovering the unexplored historical layers of Lezhë.
This research will open doors for future archaeological expeditions in the area, an initiative that has long been missing in Lezhë. The city is set to receive increased focus on its rich history.
The team will carry out the study over the next 9 months, and the findings will provide new opportunities for archaeological groups to explore and research the area’s heritage.
