Albanian FM Spiropali sends New Year 2026 wishes

TIRANA, December 31 – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, sent a New Year message to all Albanians, at home and abroad. She highlighted the achievements of 2025 and expressed optimism for 2026.

Spiropali noted the historic opening of all negotiation chapters with the European Union. She stressed that the real challenge now is to match the speed of chapter openings with reforms and EU standards.

“The past year brought both challenges and good news. The successful opening of all chapters in just 13 months shows that Albania is moving decisively toward Europe. The race is no longer about ‘if’ but ‘when’. The hard part is now to implement reforms and meet all conditions,” she said.

She also praised the implementation of diaspora voting and the new Diaspora Law. “The law protects and promotes the rights of Albanians abroad, from Tirana to California and Australia,” she said.

Spiropali reviewed diplomatic activity in 2025. Visits to Italy, Greece, North Macedonia, the Netherlands, Croatia, Denmark, Israel, and Northern Ireland, along with hosting international partners in Tirana, strengthened Albania’s credibility abroad.

Looking ahead, she said 2026 begins with optimism, economic growth, record investments, and higher salaries. “Albania is ready to meet all EU standards. Our diplomacy will continue supporting development and stability,” Spiropali added.

She closed by sending New Year wishes to all Albanians, including those in KosovA, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Presheva Valley, Greece, Italy, and the wider diaspora. “You are the best ambassadors of the red-and-black values,” she said.

Finally, Spiropali wished health and prosperity to children, youth, public administration employees, and elders, emphasizing their role in Albania’s future.
