Fest 63: A Spectacular First Evening with Powerful Social Messages; Jury Announced

The first evening of the 63rd Festival of Song on RTSH wrapped up after nearly three and a half hours of dazzling performances. Fest 63 not only showcased spectacular music and stage magic but also reaffirmed its role as the most authoritative platform for serious, professional music in Albania. The evening offered a mix of music, performance, elegance, vocal variety, surprise moments, and powerful social messages.

Hosted by Ornela Bregu and Enkel Demi, the night featured 15 talented performers who delivered beautiful songs on a range of themes. Along with the music, their stage performances were marked by impressive choreography, costumes, and vocal diversity. The RTSH Orchestra and band masterfully interpreted the musical pieces, raising the level of Fest 63 and highlighting the professionalism with which RTSH organizes major national and international events.

The stage was graced not only by experienced artists but also by ambitious young talents aiming to build successful careers in music. For many of these performers, Fest 63 represents an important stepping stone toward international recognition.

One of the standout moments of the evening came from rapper Noizy, who electrified the audience with his performance of the “Troubleshooters” movie soundtrack, in which he stars. The crowd cheered as Noizy expressed his honor at performing in the festival.

The French singer Slimane also made a memorable impact, especially during a duet with Elhaida Dani, the festival’s artistic director. Slimane brought the audience to its feet with his hit “Mon Amour,” which he performed at last year’s Eurovision. The magic continued with the duet, highlighting the international reach of the festival.

A special moment of the evening was the announcement of the festival’s jury, made up of prominent figures from music, literature, and pedagogy. The jury will be led by the renowned artist Zana Çela, with members including Alma Bektashi, Ylljet Aliçka, Merita Rexha Tërshana, Florent Boshnjaku, Jonida Maliqi, and Ramona Tullumani.

The jury’s votes will select 15 finalists, who will perform during the fourth night of the festival. On the final evening, the jury’s decision will be combined with the public’s vote. This year, only one song will win and represent Albania at Eurovision.

While music took center stage, the first night of Fest 63 also provided a platform for powerful social messages. Throughout the festival, and especially on the opening night, women’s voices and stories of strength were highlighted. These women have broken societal stereotypes and triumphed over personal struggles to make a difference in their fields.

Zamira Koleci, a journalist and former director of Radio Tirana, shared her story of overcoming the early challenges in her career. She recalled being told it was impossible for her to become a radio reporter, but with strength, courage, and hard work, Zamira defied the odds and became one of the leading voices at Radio Tirana.

Activist Edlira Çepani also captivated the audience with her heartfelt messages. Despite the immense pain of losing her husband, former MP Gerti Bogdani, Edlira shared her journey of resilience, showing that even in the face of great loss, one can find the strength to carry on.
