Onufri Museum Restores 19th-20th Century Mural

At the National Museum of Iconography “Onufri,” the preservation of cultural heritage is an ongoing priority. Recently, restorer Erion Lezi completed the consolidation of a 19th-20th century mural on the museum’s upper floor. The restoration involved injecting a consolidant into the cracks and filling voids to prevent further damage and ensure the mural’s longevity.
The museum’s collection includes 200 objects, primarily icons and liturgical items, from the churches and monasteries of the Berat region. These works, dating from the 14th to the early 20th century, include pieces by notable artists such as Onufri and the Çetiri family.
