TIRANA, January 16 – U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Albania Nancy VanHorn reaffirmed US support for institutions fighting organized crime and drug trafficking.

She spoke at the closing ceremony of a training program led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for investigators of the Special Anti-Corruption Structure and the National Bureau of Investigation, held at the Security Academy.

VanHorn recalled a statement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and stressed the implementation of priorities set by President Donald Trump.

She underlined the importance of strengthening institutions involved in the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking.

“Transnational criminal and terrorist organizations, especially those involved in drug trafficking, represent the greatest threat to US security in the Western Hemisphere,” VanHorn said.

She added that these groups destabilize states and drive mass migration.

“We will relentlessly pursue President Trump’s priorities in Albania by strengthening institutions that combat organized crime and drug trafficking, including the Special Anti-Corruption Structure, the National Bureau of Investigation, and the Security Academy,” VanHorn stated.
