PM Rama in Israel visit: Albania placed on pedestal of highest respect

TIRANA, January 27 – Prime Minister Edi Rama conducted an official working visit to Jerusalem as part of the International Conference on the Fight Against Antisemitism. The event addresses global challenges in combating antisemitism.

Rama shared photos from the meetings on social media and described Albania as placed “on the pedestal of the highest respect.”

He traveled with his wife, Linda Rama, and an official delegation. The prime minister met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and they held a joint press conference.

At the conference, Rama stated that Albania continues to support all efforts for peace, including President Trump’s Gaza peace plan. He added that Albania will contribute within the international force for Gaza’s stabilization.

Rama also addressed the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, in a special session as an honorary guest. The Knesset reserved this session for a limited number of foreign leaders, most recently including U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

At the session’s opening, Netanyahu, Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, and Opposition Leader Yair Lapid offered their greetings.

Rama highlighted that Albania serves as a model of interfaith coexistence. He announced that Vlora will host a museum honoring the Albanian people’s actions to save Jews from Nazi persecution.

He delivered a message to all Israeli citizens and Palestinians, urging them to give peace a chance, end acts of hostility, and embrace a new life.

Rama concluded by blessing the memory of those who sacrificed their lives. He called for the flourishing and security of Israel and the freedom and dignity of Palestinians. He emphasized that Albania and Israel, though small nations, share a deep spiritual bond and a joint commitment to uphold humanity.

On the final day of his official visit, Rama is scheduled to speak at the International Conference on the Fight Against Antisemitism.
