Albanian Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs welcomes U.S. Congress bill supporting Albanians in Presheva Valley

TIRANA, January 29 – The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in Tirana welcomed the submission to the United States Congress of the “Presheva Valley Discrimination Assessment Bill.” The proposed law calls on the United States Department of State to report on the treatment of ethnic minorities by Serbia, with a focus on Albanians in the Presheva Valley.

In a press statement, the ministry said that the bill represents “an important institutional recognition of the serious challenges faced by Albanians in the Presheva Valley, particularly regarding issues of disenfranchisement. It also marks a significant step toward addressing these problems at the international level.”

The ministry expressed gratitude for the engagement of the United States. It described the initiative by Congress as a strong signal of support for the rights of Albanians in the Presheva Valley and as a meaningful contribution to peace and stability in the Western Balkans.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor the rights of Albanians in the Presheva Valley and to cooperate with international partners to address these issues.
