PM Rama reacts after Hague prosecution’s sentence request for former KLA leaders

TIRANA, February 10 – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted following the prosecution’s sentence request at the Special Court in The Hague. The prosecution asked for a total of 180 years in prison for former UÇK leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi.

Rama said he still cannot find the “logical thread” behind the prosecution’s reasoning for such a severe request. He added that words fail him and he struggles to express his thoughts.

The prime minister explained that he delayed reacting because he needed time to process everything the prosecution presented in the heart of democratic Europe.

This sentence request marks one of the most important stages in the trial against the former KLA leaders. The accused continue to declare their innocence.
