Albania’s FM Elisa Spiropali and Kosova’s FM Glauk Konjufca: Coordination key to European future

TIRANA, February 25 – Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, held an official meeting in Kosova with her counterpart, Glauk Konjufca.
During a joint press conference, Spiropali highlighted the historical and strategic importance of relations between Albania and Kosova. She said that in her first visit as foreign minister after the formation of the new government, she wished success in consolidating democratic institutions, strengthening the state of Kosova, and improving citizens’ welfare. She stressed that for Albania, Kosova represents history and a political choice, as well as a continuation of a shared national path shaped by sacrifice and determination.
In addition, Spiropali referred to 1999 as a reference point when the world recognized both the injustices and the dignity of a people seeking freedom. She stated that 2026 should mark the full consolidation of Kosova’s international subjectivity and the closure of any historical ambiguity regarding its place in Europe.
Meanwhile, Konjufca said that close coordination with Albania remains essential for advancing Kosova’s international aspirations. He thanked Spiropali for Albania’s continued support for Kosova’s state-building and for representing its interests internationally. He added that stronger coordination would reinforce Kosova’s efforts to join the Council of Europe, NATO, and other international organizations.
Furthermore, Konjufca said that the future of Albania and Kosova will remain interconnected. He emphasized that deeper coordination will strengthen the path toward the European Union. He also congratulated Albania on progress in its European integration process and expressed hope that Kosova will follow the same model.
The meeting underscored the traditional friendship between the two countries and their shared commitment to advancing European policies and strengthening Kosova’s statehood and international standing.
