Prime Minister Rama convenes Socialist Party leadership, expected to set date for Assembly

Prime Minister Edi Rama called a meeting of the Socialist Party of Albania leadership on Tuesday, March 3. The agenda for the meeting remains unclear.
Journalist Denada Shkodrani, reporting live on Good Morning Albania, said that party sources expect the leadership to set the date for the next Assembly. The last Assembly took place on September 11, 2025.
The meeting follows Rama’s discussion with President Bajram Begaj about recent cabinet changes. Rama presented his proposals for the reshuffle. President Begaj will decree the changes, and Parliament will review them in a plenary session.
Shkodrani added, “The Prime Minister has not provided a clear agenda for this leadership meeting. Sources say the date for the Socialist Party Assembly will be set today.”
Most of the proposed changes were unexpected. Rama had previously said he would finalize decisions only after reviewing the Mandate Council’s report.
Once the President signs the decrees, Parliament will examine the new cabinet lineup in a plenary session.
