TIRANA, March 13 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Albania is working on a new Penal Code. He added that the government collaborates with the Justice Ministries of France and Italy for its drafting.

During a press conference at the Prime Minister’s Office, Rama said the new Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Code are under intensive review. He explained that the draft, prepared by a team of independent Albanian experts led by the director of the School of Magistrates, is being revised based on all received comments.

Rama noted that Italy and France provide expert networks to review the codes. He added that the Dutch government contributes two experts for the Penal Code.

As a result, Rama emphasized that the process is fully controlled and complies with European and international standards.
