Andamion Murataj won the special award at the Bari International Film Festival, Bif&st, for the film “Burri i shtëpisë.”

The festival website noted that the jury faced a difficult choice among many outstanding female performances.

They decided to give a special recognition for an actress who portrayed an extremely complex character with disarming simplicity. Drita Kaba Karaga’s performance in “Burri i shtëpisë” shows a life lived as a man for years, until a strong maternal feeling disrupts that balance. The jury called her performance deep and impressive.

The Bari International Film and Television Festival is one of the most important cinema events in the Mediterranean. “Burri i shtëpisë” stood out as one of the most special films of the festival’s 17th edition.

Director Murataj expressed his happiness with this recognition, 35 years after arriving in Bari on the ship “Vlora.”

The film tells the story of a woman living as a man in modern Albania, a society changing day by day. Murataj cast Drita Kaba-Karaga from North Macedonia to portray Frani, valuing her exceptional psycho-physical skills and strong acting talent.
