U.S. President Trump nominates Eric Wendt as ambassador to Albania

TIRANA, April 14 – President Donald Trump nominates Eric Wendt as the new United States ambassador to Albania and sends the nomination to the U.S. Senate for confirmation. If confirmed, Wendt will take charge of the U.S. diplomatic mission in Tirana and represent American interests in the country.

Wendt comes from a long career in the United States Special Operations Forces where he serves as a lieutenant general and builds extensive experience in high-risk operational environments. He holds senior command positions across multiple defense structures and focuses on security strategy and mission planning in conflict regions.

His profile also includes strong academic preparation in security and law. He earns a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Society from the University of California, Santa Barbara and completes a Master’s degree in National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. This combination of field experience and academic training shapes his background in defense and security policy.

The nomination now moves through the standard Senate confirmation process where lawmakers review credentials and conduct hearings before a final vote. If the Senate approves the appointment, Wendt assumes his post in Tirana and leads bilateral diplomatic engagement between the United States and Albania under official State Department mandate.
