Every September, the capital prepares for one of the most important cinematic events in the country, the Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF), which will take place from September 22 to 28.
After extensive work since October 2023, selecting from 3,700 applications from 110 countries worldwide, the official list includes 211 films, of which 25 are feature-length and 186 are short films.
All selected films were produced in 2023-24 and will have their national premieres, with many world, international, European, and regional premieres.
The films will be screened at Millennium Cinema, AGIMI Art Center, and the Artistic High School.
This year, the RetrospectTIFF section will pay special tribute to Marcello Mastroianni, on the 100th anniversary of his birth.
A cinema icon, Mastroianni left an extraordinary legacy, portraying unforgettable characters that continue to inspire generations.
The special program will feature four selected films from his career, made possible through the contribution of the Italian Cultural Institute.
Another innovation will be part of the Panorama Competition, introducing a new section called TEENs, which will showcase nine narrative films created for adolescents. These unique films, produced specifically for this delicate age group, reflecting their interests, will be screened at the AGIMI Art Center.
