PM Rama at European Political Community Summit: Europe’s unity must move forward

TIRANA, May 4 – Prime Minister Edi Rama arrived in Yerevan, Armenia, this morning. He attended the 8th summit of the European Political Community at the Karen Demirchyan Complex.
Leaders and heads of government from 48 countries took part in the meeting. Canada also joined for the first time as a non-European participant.
Upon arrival, Rama spoke to the media. He focused on European integration and regional cooperation.
He said the summit offers a new opportunity for shared ambitions and concerns. He also said it shows how much Europe can achieve together. He stressed the need to move forward with European unity. He added that NATO should rely more on its European members.
Later, Rama responded to questions about what the European Union can offer candidate countries. He said the issue does not involve offers to individual states. Instead, he said it requires faster thinking and faster action for the future of Europe.
He also said a European Union that remains incomplete becomes weaker. He added that it becomes more vulnerable compared to a fully integrated union.
At the end of the visit, Prime Minister Rama and his delegation met the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan.
