TIRANA, May 5 – A commemorative ceremony took place today at the National Martyrs’ Cemetery in honour of the fallen heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of the country.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, President Bajram Begaj, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Klodiana Spahiu, and Defence Minister Ermal Nufi laid wreaths in tribute to the martyrs and bowed in respect to their sacrifice.

At the same time, the ceremony marked the Day of Honour for the Martyrs of the Nation, observed on 5 May, the date when Hero of the People Qemal Stafa fell.

In addition, the Day of the Martyrs commemorates not only those who contributed to the liberation of the country and a better future, but also all those who sacrificed their lives for freedom, democracy, human rights, and the dignity of every Albanian.
