Zvërnec protest, PM Rama says Albania will proceed under May 2025 mandate

TIRANA, June 3 – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on the debate and protests linked to an investment project in Zvërnec. He published images of the protest on Facebook. He also reaffirmed support for the project.
Meanwhile, Rama said Albania will continue its development under the mandate given by citizens in the May 2025 elections. He stressed that opposition will not change the country’s direction.
In addition, he said “Albania will be built according to the contract we signed for the fourth time in May 2025 with more than 800,000 Albanians in the country and abroad”.
At the same time, the Prime Minister criticised protest participants. He said they block development through what he described as unfounded perceptions and hostility. He added that the protest has lost its original purpose. He expressed regret for those who continue to support it.
Later, Rama posted a longer message on Facebook. He addressed citizens in a morning greeting and repeated his position on the Zvërnec project. He said some critics use patriotism to attack opponents. He described the protest as lacking real justification.
