TIRANA, July 8 – The Dutch government has confirmed its support for closing 3 negotiation chapters for Albania’s European Union integration process.

The Media and Information Agency (MIA) said the decision marks another step forward for Albania on its path toward EU membership.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands has backed the closure of Chapter 25 on Science and Research, Chapter 26 on Education and Culture, and Chapter 30 on External Relations.

MIA said the official assessment by the Dutch government confirms that Albania has met the requirements for these chapters.

At the same time, support for the decision is consolidating among European Union member states. The EU Council is working toward unanimous approval of this important step in Albania’s integration process.

The closure of negotiation chapters represents one of the key stages in Albania’s EU accession talks.
