Albania to close first three European Union negotiation chapters as Rama holds Brussels and Paris meetings

TIRANA, July 13 – Prime Minister Edi Rama will lead Albania’s delegation at the European Union intergovernmental conference on July 14.

The meeting in Brussels will officially close the first 3 negotiation chapters of Albania’s accession process.

Rama will address representatives of EU member states at the Council of the European Union. Ireland’s Foreign Minister and European Commissioner Marta Kos will also attend the conference.

The parties will close Chapter 26 on education and culture, Chapter 25 on research, and Chapter 30 on external relations.

Meanwhile, Ireland currently holds the European Union presidency. The country will lead the bloc until December 31.

The closure of the first chapters marks the start of a process that Albania aims to complete by 2027. Rama has said the country expects to conclude negotiations within this timeframe.

Earlier on July 13, the prime minister will travel to Paris at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. He will attend a working dinner with Ukraine volunteers and the July 14 military parade.
