Albania will host Chinese Cultural Week from September 22 to 25. The event will bring Chinese art, music, traditions, literature and culture to the Albanian public.

Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja announced the programme. He described it as an opportunity to explore China’s rich cultural heritage.

“China’s millennia-old culture, rich in art, traditions, music, literature and history, has influenced many societies in Asia and beyond. Now, it comes to Albania through a special programme,” Gonxhja said.

The event forms part of the fifth edition of the International Cultural Weeks. The programme will feature a range of activities.

These include jazz and traditional music, puppet theatre, literature, sports and interactive events.

One of the main attractions will be a traditional Chinese puppet theatre performance. The show will present three styles: string puppets, hand puppets and rod puppets.

The programme will feature stories such as “Monkey King Kung-Fu”, “Monkey Training”, “Puppet Fighting” and “Face Change”. It will also include interactive games and invite children to participate on stage.

The performance will open Chinese Cultural Week on September 22 at the Puppet Theatre in Tirana. It will then move to the “Petro Marko” Theatre in Vlora on September 24.

The event is organised in cooperation with the Tirana International Puppet Festival.

Meanwhile, another event, “Discovering China Through Books”, will invite visitors to explore Chinese culture, literature and traditions through books.

The programme will also promote “Chinese Legends”, now available in Albanian. The book takes readers into the ancient world of Chinese stories, where history, mythology and imagination come together in tales passed down through generations.
