On April 24, 1874, the Ottoman Turkish authorities arrested Hasan Tahsin, for his patriotic activity, although he was the rector of the only Turkish University.

On April 24, 1897, teacher, economist and diplomat Reshat Asllani was born in Adrianople. He attended college in Istanbul where, together with other Albanians, he demanded the introduction of the Albanian language, the raising of Albanian national flag and the creation of the Albanian literary circle.

In 1967, the Helicopter Regiment was created, and 7 years later, the Gjadër Regiment was built.
