The Authority for Information on Former State Security Documents (AIDSSH) and the Central State Film Archive have signed an agreement to explore the communist era through the analysis of films and archival documents, with support from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The initiative aims to uncover the realities of the period, focusing on the role of socialist realist films in shaping public perception and promoting propaganda.

The “Film Club” will serve as a platform to analyze films like Toka Jonë, Komisari i Dritës, and Shokët, examining their connection to State Security documents. In addition to film screenings, discussions with scholars, filmmakers, and experts will address the influence of these films on society and history.

AIDSSH highlights that propaganda films distorted historical narratives and vilified political opponents. This project aims to provide a deeper understanding of how these films manipulated public opinion and to distinguish fact from propaganda.
