Albanian Archives Conference to Focus on Digitization, Innovation, and Arbëresh Culture

The General Directorate of Archives (DPA) announced that the IX National Conference on Archivistics will be held from June 13-17, 2025, in San Demetrio Corone, a central hub of the Albanian diaspora in Calabria, Italy.
Organized by DPA, the State Archives Agency of Kosovo, and the Municipality of San Demetrio Corone, this conference will bring together scholars, archivists, and experts to discuss key issues, share research findings, and coordinate national archival efforts. Following previous successful events in cities like Pristina, Skopje, Saranda, Tuzi, Boletin, Bitola, and Elbasan, San Demetrio Corone will serve as the next stop for this biennial gathering.
The conference will focus on topics such as archival methodologies, digitization, infrastructure enhancement, and innovation in the archival field. A dedicated panel will explore the language, history, and culture of the Arbëresh community.
DPA is the only Albanian state institution with a physical presence in the Arbëresh communities of Italy, through 12 Archive Centers located in Sicily and Calabria.
