Albanian Film Festival Opens in Berlin

Fly Like An Eagle opened on Wednesday at Kino Babylon.

The festival will run until May 13. It is dedicated to the history and transformation of Albanian cinema.

The event opened with the screening of Death of a Horse by Saimir Kumbaro.

Meanwhile, the festival features both classic films from Kinostudio Shqipëria e Re and contemporary Albanian productions.

The initiative aims to connect Albania’s cinematic past with a new generation of filmmakers.

In addition, the festival is supported by the Albanian Embassy in Berlin, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports, the National Center of Cinematography, and the Central State Film Archive.

Actor Timo Flloko, the lead star of “Death of a Horse,” attended the opening night as a special guest. After the screening, audiences had the chance to discuss the film and his artistic career.

Furthermore, the festival program includes several iconic Albanian films, such as The Second November, A Tale from the Past, Concert in the Year 1936, and Red Poppies on Walls.

Built in 1929 by architect Hans Poelzig, Kino Babylon remains one of Berlin’s most iconic cinemas and a major venue for international film and cultural events.
