TIRANA, March 18 – Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, visited the Spanish Senate during his official trip to Spain. He met with First Deputy President Javier Maroto, Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Pilar Rojo Noguera, and key parliamentary officials in Madrid.

Hoxha said the meetings focused on European Union enlargement and Albania’s EU accession negotiations. He highlighted the importance of a credible, merit-based membership process. He also exchanged views on transatlantic relations and the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy.

Posting on social media platform X, Hoxha wrote: “It was a special pleasure to visit the Spanish Senate and meet the First Deputy President, the Foreign Affairs Committee Chair, and key officials. We discussed EU enlargement and Albania’s negotiation progress. We confirmed our joint commitment to a reliable and merit-based accession process. I expressed gratitude for Spain’s continued support and shared perspectives on transatlantic relations and the expanding role of parliamentary diplomacy.”

The visit reinforces Spain’s ongoing backing of Albania’s EU integration. It highlights Albania’s active engagement with European partners and its efforts to strengthen diplomatic and parliamentary cooperation.
