Albanian government examines record €10 billion budget for 2027

The Albanian government will review the draft 2027 budget today, with planned spending of €10 billion. Finance Minister Petrit Malaj will then present the document to the Assembly’s Conference of Chairpersons. Parliamentary committees will subsequently examine the proposal.
Reporter Rugova Dunisha reported that the budget may include compensation for businesses damaged during protests in Tirana over the past 15 days. The mechanism forms part of measures proposed by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Following the presentation, the Assembly will set its work schedule and begin a detailed review of budget allocations in parliamentary committees.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party is expected to continue its partial boycott of parliamentary proceedings. The opposition has demanded Rama’s resignation, a transitional government and early elections. It remains unclear whether the party will attend the budget discussions or how it will respond to the accompanying fiscal package.
