Albanian prime minister attends Euronews enlargement summit in Brussels

Albania has opened all six negotiating clusters, covering the European Union’s 33 chapters of legislation. The country has now entered the gradual closure phase. At the latest intergovernmental conference on October 13, 2026, Albania and the European Union provisionally closed negotiations on Chapter 20, covering enterprise and industrial policy. Four chapters have now been provisionally closed, so far.
Meanwhile, Albania continues work to meet European standards, particularly on the rule of law, democratic institutions and public administration.
The summit comes amid changing geopolitical conditions, security challenges and economic competition. Discussions will focus on candidate countries’ progress, required reforms and the implications of enlargement for European security, democracy and competitiveness.
