TIRANA, March 30 – Albania’s Council of Ministers approved key decisions on public security and agriculture during its meeting on March 30, 2026. The government appointed Skënder Hita as Director General of the State Police, granting him the rank of major director.

In parallel, the cabinet adopted financial support measures for agriculture and rural development for 2026. Authorities approved a significant fund to support investments in agricultural and livestock sectors. The measures aim to boost competitiveness and provide direct support to farmers.

The government allocated budget funds for direct payments based on cultivated land and registered livestock. The support will also cover biological pest control in greenhouses, certification of agricultural and organic products, and investment grants. These grants target farms, agri-processing, aquaculture, and agrotourism.

In addition, the Council approved amendments to the environmental impact assessment law. The changes aim to speed up procedures and improve efficiency. Officials said the reforms will enhance public services and support sustainable development across the country.
