Korça Library Honors Thimi Mitko with Scientific Session

The Library of Korça held a scientific session to honor Thimi Mitko on the 205th anniversary of his birth. The event focused on the theme “Thimi Mitko – A Beacon of National Thought and Albanian Culture.”
The Prefect of Korça, Nertil Jole, attended the event and shared his reflections. “It was more than a scientific session,” he said. “It was a meeting with our roots, with the clear thought and deep passion of a man who loved his language, culture, and national identity unconditionally. Korça has always honored its sons and kept alive the memory of those who illuminated our national path.”
In his remarks, Prefect Jole also highlighted today’s lack of patriotic awareness. He called for continued homage to great figures like Mitko to revive national consciousness.
Euthimio (Thimi) Mitko remains one of the noblest figures of the Albanian National Renaissance. The Korça Library proudly bears his name. He dedicated his life to the national cause and to folklore. His collection of southern Albanian folk songs, tales, and proverbs continues to be a cornerstone of cultural memory.
