Assembly of Albania approves participation in Peace Board

TIRANA, January 22 – Albania’s Assembly approved the ratification of the agreement for the country’s participation in the Peace Board in a Thursday plenary vote.
Lawmakers voted 110 in favor, with one abstention and no votes against. A total of 110 MPs attended. The abstention came from an opposition member.
Earlier, Assembly fast-tracked the draft law, allowing MPs to debate and vote on it in the same session. The fast-track request passed with 80 votes in favor and 22 against.
The ratification confirms Albania’s accession to the Peace Board, represented by Prime Minister Edi Rama. The Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs had approved the agreement, and the Council of Ministers endorsed it in principle.
The Peace Board operates as an international organization with legal personality under international law. It promotes stability, supports legitimate governance, and contributes to sustainable peace in areas affected by or at risk of conflict.
It also develops and shares best practices in peacebuilding for states and communities seeking to strengthen peace and stability.
