Behind the Scenes of Albanian Cinema: Kinostudio’s Secret Minutes Revealed

Archivist Eriona Vyshka from the Central State Film Archive (AQSHF) wrote a new book. She turned the old meeting minutes of Kinostudio “Shqipëria e Re” into a published work.
The book is titled “Archival Documents in the Central State Film Archive Fund 1954–1994: Meeting Minutes of Kinostudio ‘Shqipëria e Re’.”
The minutes cover meetings from 1973 to 1994. Other documents, including film scripts that were never produced, go back to 1954.
The book collects and organizes records from a 40-year period. These records existed but remained scattered and hard to use. Researchers rarely explored them, even though AQSHF kept them available.
The editors at Kinostudio wrote the minutes during meetings. They discussed scripts, staff tasks, political events, work analysis, project plans, and results. They also held “collective trials” to judge staff actions.
AQSHF published the book to show how Kinostudio operated. The book reveals how people worked there and how politics influenced the studio. The League of Writers and Artists, the Ministry of Education and Culture, and the Directorate of Arts closely supervised its work.
