As part of North Macedonia Theater Week in Tirana, “Uncle Vanya” by Anton Chekhov will be performed today at ArTurbina by the Albanian Theater of Skopje, directed by Vladimir Milčin. Admission is free.

A pinnacle of Chekhov’s dramatic works, the play reflects the loss of ideals and the rise of a new barbarism in modern times. It portrays life with unfiltered realism, offering a powerful commentary on human struggles and societal decay.

“The fallen heroes are forgotten, new heroes are absent, and their place is taken by overnight barbarians,” notes the National Theater.
