Defense Minister Vengu Reflects on Albania’s Global Role in WWII Resistance

The Academy of Arts hosted an emotional performance titled “Albania in Context”, featuring a powerful collaboration between the Armed Forces Symphony Orchestra and the exceptional acting of Ema Andrea.

Defense Minister Pirro Vengu, who attended the performance, described it as a historical journey through time and space.

“Albania stands at the heart of history, a small nation with a big heart. During World War II, young Albanians raised their voices and weapons for freedom, becoming symbols of resistance and hope,” Vengu stated.

He continued, “In Italy, France, Poland, Britain, the United States, and everywhere else where the winds of war blew, Albanians were part of a global fight for justice and peace.”

Minister Vengu emphasized the importance of recognizing Albanian resistance as part of the broader global youth movements, “This is a story that must be remembered to honor those who sacrificed for the freedom we enjoy today.”

He concluded by reflecting, “This powerful narrative, experienced at the Academy of Arts with friends and diplomats from Europe and the U.S., marked the culmination of the 80th anniversary of Albania’s Liberation.”
