Diaspora Summit in Tirana to feature 17 panels and joint Kosova session on Albanian language and education

TIRANA, April 10 – The fourth Diaspora Summit will take place in Tirana on April 13, 14, and 15. It will bring together hundreds of Albanian representatives from around the world. The Palace of Congresses will host the event. Organizers expect wide participation from business, academic, and civil society communities. The summit will focus on a more inclusive approach to diaspora engagement.

Deputy Foreign Minister Megi Fino said the summit will include 17 thematic panels over three days. She said discussions will cover economy, digitalization, scientific research, education, rural development, and civil society. The format aims to link diaspora expertise with national development priorities.

A key innovation this year comes with a joint panel with Kosova. The panel focuses on unifying the Albanian language and strengthening cooperation in education. Discussions will cover unified textbooks, free distribution of learning materials, and teacher training for the diaspora. The agenda also includes closer Albania–Kosova cooperation on education policy and diaspora work.

Fino said the summit will also feature a Book Corner and activities on the Arbëresh community in Italy and interfaith dialogue. She noted strong interest in participation. Registrations have exceeded 1,000. The organizers aim to include all age groups. They also aim to ensure representation from institutions, independent bodies, and diaspora professionals.

The summit will also address the 2026–2030 diaspora strategy. The plan seeks stronger diaspora involvement in decision-making. Fino said the focus remains on turning discussions into concrete mechanisms. She added that the process builds on work started in 2016. That work established the legal and institutional framework for diaspora relations.
