Dritëro Agolli’s Love Letters and Legacy on Display in Intimate Exhibition

The house-museum of the celebrated prose writer and poet Dritëro Agolli buzzed with the presence of friends, admirers, and journalists last evening, as it hosted a poignant exhibition featuring the handwritten love letters exchanged between Agolli and his beloved wife, Sadije.
Guests honored the literary icon amid personal letters, cherished belongings, and the ever-present voice of Agolli, which still resonates throughout the home he shared with his family.
Elona Agolli, the writer’s daughter, played a key role in bringing this exhibition to life, contributing handwritten manuscripts and various personal artifacts.
Anisa Ymeri, Director of the Kadare-Agolli Studio Houses, shared with the Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATSH) that, after the exhibition concludes, which will remain open for one month, the manuscripts, personal objects, and other items will be preserved within the museum’s permanent collection.
Among the items on display were the couple’s clothing from their youth, worn during the time they exchanged love letters, their timepieces, a pearl necklace belonging to Sadije, two portraits by Lumturi Blloshmi, a bust of Dritëro Agolli by Ilmi Kasemi, various household items, and Agolli’s functional fountain pen, still in use for writing letters during the exhibition.
“Our mission is to mark the significant milestones of the writer’s life in this house,” remarked Anisa Ymeri, highlighting that this unique exhibition is open to all visitors, offering a glimpse into the profound personal life of one of Albania’s literary giants.
