Eid al-Fitr prayers gather worshippers in Tirana main square

TIRANA, March 20 – Muslim believers marked Eid al-Fitr in Albania, celebrating the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Large numbers gathered in Skanderbeg Square in Tirana to perform the morning prayer and seek peace and prosperity.

Worshippers joined the collective prayer, asking for acceptance of their fasting and for greater harmony. After the prayer, they exchanged greetings and shared the joy of the occasion. Similar ceremonies took place in mosques and public squares across the country.

The head of the Muslim Community of Albania, Bujar Spahiu, extended his greetings and highlighted the spiritual and social importance of Ramadan. He said the month encourages kindness, solidarity, and personal improvement. He described Ramadan as a “school” of moral, spiritual, and social education that strengthens bonds among people.

According to tradition, many believers continue the celebrations by visiting relatives and helping those in need. These practices preserve the spirit of generosity and solidarity associated with the holiday. The day combines prayer, reflection, and community, reinforcing shared values and social cohesion.
