Exhibition opens in the Marubi museum with the photographs donated by Safet and Gjyldaze Dokle

The first exhibition for this year, which belongs to the photographic collection of the married couple “Safet and Gjylzade Dokle”, has been opened in the “Marubi” photography museum.

The photographic set is the largest donated to the museum after the 90s, while in it we find images of traditions and rituals from the city of Kukës.

The National Museum of Photography “Marubi” in Shkodër opened the annual exhibition calendar with the personal photographic collection of “Safet e Gjylzade Dokle”.

Consisting of about 20,000 negatives, this is the largest collection donated to the photography museum after the 1990s, while it reflects the photographic activity of two husbands, Safet and Gjylzade Dokle, from the 1930s to the early 1970s, who also opened the first photography studio in Kukës. Director Luçjan Bedeni says that this is the third collection donated to the photography museum “Marubi” since 2014.

Aspects of the lifestyle, traditions, rituals, ethnographic elements and the views of the old town of Kukës are some of the images in this photo collection. Their two sons, Rahime Dokle Shehu and Milaim Dokle, also feel spiritual satisfaction and pride in the parents’ collection.

The exhibition “Safet e Gjylzade Dokle” will remain open until July 1 in the premises of the “Marubi” museum.
