Exhibition Showcases 100 Years of the Marubi Photographic Dynasty

The Marubi National Museum and the Tirana Art Gallery will unite to present an extraordinary exhibition showcasing the timeless images of the Marubi dynasty, marking 100 years of this iconic photographic studio.
Opening on February 27, 2025, at the Tirana Art Gallery, the exhibition will remain open to the public for two months, until April 27, 2025. It will feature a carefully curated selection of images from the vast Marubi National Museum archive in Shkodër, spanning from 1865 to 1959, which holds over 150,000 glass plate negatives.
Titled “The Marubi Dynasty – A Century of the Albanian Photographic Studio,” the exhibition is curated by Kim Knoppers. For the first time, it will unveil exceptional photographs from the renowned collections of Pietro, Kel, and Gegë Marubi—images that were previously exhibited at FOAM, the Photography Museum of Amsterdam, in 2016, and at the Marubi National Museum of Photography in 2019.
The Marubi National Museum describes this exhibition as a remarkable occasion to celebrate the Marubi legacy and a rare opportunity to immerse oneself in the visual narratives that have documented Albania’s history. The museum invites all photography enthusiasts not to miss this unique experience.
