Gjirokastër’s Reception House to Become a Hub for Writers, Says Prime Minister

Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that the former Reception House in Gjirokastër will be transformed into a dedicated space for writers.
“We are working on another project that will be focused on writers, specifically a writers’ house. In Gjirokastër, in the former Reception House, where the former owner of this house once resided, we will create a house dedicated to writers,” said Rama at the opening ceremony of the European art residence “Vila 31 X Art Explora” in Tirana.
Since Gjirokastër is also the birthplace of renowned writer Ismail Kadare, and although Kadare has passed, he remains one of Albania’s most important literary figures, Rama noted that the residence will be named “Kadare House” and will host writers.
“We are also working on a project involving the routes of Ismail Kadare’s characters in Gjirokastër. This project is not yet fully finalized, but we will carry it through to completion and, if fully convinced that it is the right decision, we will establish it,” Rama added.
