TIRANA, January 27 – On Holocaust Remembrance Day, President Bajram Begaj highlighted the need for collective responsibility and humanism. He stressed the importance of protecting human dignity and universal rights to live in peace.

Begaj said the day should serve as a call for society to defend everyone’s right to live with dignity. He added that it reminds people of the terrible consequences of ethnic, racial, and religious hatred, as well as antisemitism.

The president also praised the courage and solidarity of Albanians during World War II. He noted that the Albanian people protected and sheltered Jews, ensuring their safety during the darkest days of Nazism.

Begaj underlined that Holocaust Remembrance Day honors the innocent lives lost in one of history’s most brutal crimes against humanity. He said the day highlights the humanism, bravery, and solidarity of the Albanian population, which hosted and safeguarded Jews with dignity, helping them escape Nazi extermination.
