International Day of Monuments and Sites: Gonxhja Encourages Free Access to National Heritage

On the occasion of the International Day of Monuments and Sites, all cultural monuments and sites across the country are offering free admission today.
Blendi Gonxhja, Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, urged citizens to rediscover the treasures that reflect Albania’s rich history, spirit, and national identity.
“From timeless fortresses to mosaics that tell centuries-old tales, every stone, every architectural detail holds a piece of Albania’s ancient past. Entrance to all monuments and cultural sites is free today,” stated Gonxhja.
Since 1982, April 18th has been celebrated as the International Day of Monuments and Sites.
This day offers a chance to protect and celebrate our cultural heritage together. Originally a project of ICOMOS, a global NGO focused on monument preservation, April 18th was later recognized by UNESCO.
