Italian, British, and French Visitors Lead the Way at Albania’s Unique Museum

The National Museum of Surveillance “House of Leaves” has released its 2024 visitor statistics, showing a 58% increase in visitation compared to 2023.
In 2024, the museum welcomed 77,026 visitors. This surge in attendance has also led to a significant rise in revenue, which was 61.6% higher for the January-December 2024 period than the income generated in 2023.
The museum revealed that 78% of its visitors in 2024 were international tourists, with the majority being Italian, British, and French nationals.
The National Museum of Surveillance was inaugurated on May 23, 2017. It is one of the most unique cultural institutions in Albania, dedicated to narrating one of the darkest periods of the country’s history to younger generations and foreign visitors. The museum served as the Central Headquarters for the Secret Service’s Surveillance Operations from 1944 to 1991.
The museum is divided into nine sections, comprising 31 interconnected rooms, each serving a distinct purpose, providing a coherent narrative of Albania’s surveillance history.
